Surrender

Hello, friends. Below is a prayer I wrote at the end of 2025. I continue to talk with God about it, sometimes without words, sometimes without expectation, sometimes without tears. But each time, I surrender it with everything I feel. Today, I’m praying it with you, for you.

Father, I ask in the name of Jesus for the fruition of the dream. The one you placed in me. The one you know, the one I know, the one words cannot sufficiently explain.

I ask for it however, whenever you want to make it happen.

I ask for it with your methods, your timelines.

I ask for my plans to be your plans. When my plans are not your plans, and they start to go too far, stop them.

When I get impatient and want to run when I should walk, jump when I should step, go when I should rest, please, Lord, stop me.

When I become discouraged and doubtful, fill me with hope and purpose, Lord. Show me what I’m not seeing in those moments.

When I start to believe that nothing will happen, please fill me with your Holy Spirit, that I will believe that nothing with you is impossible, Lord.

When naysayers and the world around me become loud, silence them, Lord.

When hard advice and tough love come, please open my mind, my ears, that I may heed it.

When ties must be cut to people, things, ideas, desires, please cut them cleanly, Lord.

When I can’t see a reason to hope, to believe, show me.

When everything comes together and the blessings flow, fill me with your Word and your Holy Spirit, that I will remember where it all comes from.

When anything happens — new things, ordinary things, heartbreaking things, scary and shocking things, difficult things — remind me to praise you.

Give me the voice, the sense, the desire, the wisdom to praise you, my Father, my Savior, my Advocate, in all things this year and in all years to come.

I love you, I thank you, I need you.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Follow

Daughter, let me lead you.

To follow is to be

Strong.

Learning my ways will

Energize,

Invigorate,

Awaken.

Letting me work,

Letting yourself rest

And cry

And laugh

And love

Are your strengths.

Letting go is

Strength.

These links share just a glimpse of the story God is telling us. When you have time, read a chapter or two around the verses to get the context and see the whole picture. My preferred Bible translation is the New Living Translation, so all links will be in that version.
